Welcome to IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad! Battle of Stalingrad is the largest recreation of the air war over the Stalingrad front ever portrayed on the PC platform. With a large terrain map and a faithfully re-created Stalingrad city on the Volga River, the scenery portrays not only the devastation of the fierce battle, but the harsh snowy environment faced by the opposing armies. Fly for either the Red Air Force or the German Luftwaffe and battle for air superiority in the most pivotal battle on the Eastern Front in WWII.

Experience the different phases of the battle during the cold winter of 1942-43. Take part in the Soviet counterattack called Operation Uranus or the dogged German defense of the Air Bridge re-supply effort of the encircled and doomed Sixth Army. The air battles were deadly and exhausting to aircrews on both sides. Do you have the skills to survive? Do you have the courage to win? Remember – Not one step back! There is No Land Behind the Volga!

You’ll experience a cutting edge flight-sim experience such as advanced flight-models, a complex physics engine and detailed damage model. And don’t forget the gorgeous graphics, awesome special effects, beautiful 3D models, detailed terrain and challenging artificial intelligence. Battle of Stalingrad has something for every flight-sim fan, from a challenging single player campaign to large multiplayer dogfights. Whether you are an experienced hardcore virtual pilot or a newcomer you can adjust the difficulty settings to match your skill level and find success.

Battle of Stalingrad merges the advanced flight and combat environment familiar to hardcore combat simulation enthusiasts with gameplay elements familiar to other game genres. The end result is a challenging and immersive flying experience that prepares virtual pilots for long term success in other modes of gameplay such as multiplayer and custom single missions. As you fly the single-player Campaign you’ll gain access to additional historically correct weapons and equipment. You’ll also be given access to new historically accurate paintjobs and mission types. As you advance you’ll be offered a chance to fly missions in the next phase of the battle. There are 5 phases total which combined tell the story of the Battle of Stalingrad. You can then take the weapons and equipment you earned in the Campaign to multiplayer servers and custom single-player missions.

You’ll be able to choose from 8 flyable aircraft including the IL-2 Sturmovik, Lagg-3, BF-109 F4, Yak-1, Pe-2, He-111 H6, BF-109 G2 and Ju-87 D3 Stuka dive bomber. The La-5 and FW-190 A3 are also included as non-flyable AI controlled fighter aircraft.

Modes of Gameplay:

• Quick Mission Builder – The Quick Mission Builder (QMB) allows you to create a combat encounter very quickly. Simply select the parameters of fight using our easy to use interface. You can select the location, planes, weapons, skins, altitudes, wind, clouds and weather. You can also select from several different types of engagements – Free-Flight, Skirmish, Survival and Duel.
• Campaign – Become a pilot of either the Soviet Red Air Force or German Luftwaffe. And fly through 5 unique phases of the Stalingrad battle. You can choose what type of plane to fly and what airbase you want to fly from. You can choose the type of mission you want to fly and choose what paintjob, weapons or equipment you want to load up. As you successfully complete missions you will be offered the ability to use other historically accurate weapons, equipment and paintjobs. You can choose which difficulty level you want to fly with and as you get better you can turn off the helpers and progress at your own pace. As you progress through the Campaign you will learn about the history of the Battle of Stalingrad and win medals and ribbons.
• Custom Missions – These are custom designed stand-alone single-player missions where you can fly to hone your combat skills. Our powerful Mission Editor can be used to create custom missions.
• Multiplayer – Battle of Stalingrad has a robust MP environment with a built in server browser. You can join MP matches easily or you can join simply to be a spectator. Each server has different goals and rules. The server locator screen can help you determine which match is best for you. Once you join a match you can fly a single seat fighter or multi-crew attack plane or bomber. You can also fly as a machine gunner on a multi-crew aircraft such a bomber or attack plane. The choice is yours. MP servers can accommodate approximately 60 players as well as many ground vehicles such as tanks and other military targets.
