Stornoway Airport (EGPO) lies on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland’s rugged Outer Hebrides, surrounded by wild landscapes and the North Atlantic. Once a Royal Air Force base, it now serves as a vital link between the islands and the Scottish mainland.
The airport features a 2,300 m runway, often exposed to strong crosswinds and rapidly changing weather conditions – a true test of a pilot’s skill. Approaches over the coastline can be both breathtaking and demanding, with shifting light, mist, and gusty winds keeping you on your toes.
