Known for its challenging approach, the airport features a 2 781-meter-long runway partially extended over the ocean, supported by concrete pillars. Handling more than 4.8 million travelers annually, LPMA is an important access point for visitors and plays a vital role in connecting Madeira to Europe and beyond.
